This is one of the cereals we all used to hate. I think Sandy the dog ended up eating more of this than any of us! However, I tried it again recently and really like it!
Ingredients:
Whole Wheat Kernals
Water
Salt (optional)
Directions:
1. Measure out wheat kernals and pour into a blender or food processor.

3. Pour pulsed wheat into a crockpot.
4. Add water- 1 C of water for each 1/4 C wheat kernals.

6. Cook on low overnight (about 6-8 hours)
7. Serve with brown sugar and milk.
I don't ever remember putting the wheat in a blender. I always remember scooping the wheat right from the white storage bucket to the crock pot. Eventually Mom got tired of making it every night and assigned each of us a day of the week to make it for the family's breakfast the night before. I also remember that Mom was very, very strict about the amount of sugar we were allowed to put on anything. She had control of the sugar. It was never put on the table. She put one small teaspoon of sugar on our cereal for us, which quickly dissolved into the water at the bottom of the bowl. I always had the ultimate sweet tooth and if I couldn't see the sugar, I didn't believe it really existed. I could never taste any sugar on the wheat cereal and, without sugar, having to eat wheat cereal was like a punishment. One night, when it was my turn to make the wheat cereal, I stalled on purpose until everyone was in bed. Mom thought she was punishing me by not letting me go to bed until I'd made the wheat cereal. Little did she know, that was my plan. I knew that if she were upstairs putting everyone else in bed, I would be completely unsupervised in the making of the wheat cereal. I figured if we couldn't put sugar on the wheat cereal in the morning, I was going to put enough of it in the crock pot the night before to make it enjoyable to eat the next day. I loaded two heaping cups full of sugar into the crockpot and mixed it all in so it couldn't be seen. The next morning, the entire family raved about my wheat cereal and requested that I be assigned to make it every night. I gladly agreed. I've enjoyed eating wheat cereal ever since.
