Intro

It is the intent of the creators of this blog to initiate a solution to a problem recognized by many of Lois' older children that exists among some of the younger children and anticipate will exist with all of the grand and great grandchildren of Lois Ann Call Smith. The problem is a lack of interaction, knowledge, and understanding of exactly who this woman was.

The intent is not to offer a genealogical survey or study deeply into her lineage, but rather to create a single structured forum that allows those offspring of hers to know her better and to begin to comprehend the effect she had on so many lives and many more to come. Also, to create a forum where those who did know her, may share their perspectives, their memories, and their "versions" of who Lois was and the stories that intersected with their lives.

February 18th, 2012 is the launch date of this blog and represents the 75th anniversary of her birth; the Silver Anniversary as it were. It does not represent a completed version, but rather the initiation of this work in progress. With 6 living siblings, and 10 living children that were all born between 1938 and 1976, represented are thousands of stories and pictures, that have been shared and not shared within this group.

This is in fact a living document, that is meant to breathe through us that knew her, to those who soon will know her better.  We are very grateful to the family members of Lois who are taking the time to answer questions to help paint a picture of the life Lois had growing up.  Read Ginny's contribution.

The title, How Great Thou Art, represents her favorite hymn, her dedication to her faith, and how many of us who knew her, felt of her. In a small way, we hope this effort also helps individuals begin to perhaps understand how they fit into this family and recognize how great they are and what a great and rich heritage they have. Lest we forget and in the spirit of Elijah: “And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.” (Mal. 4:5–6.)

  1. OK, now I have read the intro, you can ignore my previous question. This site is just precious! Partly because I loved Lois Ann and her mother, Melba, and partly because a lot of the family history pertains to me, as well. You, probably, know my dad, George White was Melba's cousin and stayed close to her throughout the years. I have shared this with my siblings and want to thank YOU siblings who are participating in its origination and continuance! There's some great stuff here, and I feel so fortunate to have found it.
